Love Shock

Audiosamples (click to start & stop):

Awful Love (Album Version)  Hey, Boy!
It's just the rain I Go Wherever You Go
Point of view Love shock
Awful Love (Radio Edit) Comfort Me

The motto of this album is "....only with humor!....". The artist finds that all we need is a "Love Shock" to wake up, see the true values of the world, and feel more alive and happier! All songs on this album are again from her own pen (lyrics & music) and on most of them she is again accompanied by the excellent Hungarian MISKOLC DIXIELAND BAND. As composer she has once again succeeded in writing songs that immediately catch your eye (and stay), as if they were existing standards! Theme: love and life.
Two bonus tracks show other interesting aspects of the artist: on the one hand a Latin pop version of one of the songs,
“Awful Love” (à la J.Lo), which also appears as a single, on the other hand a beautiful, intimate pop ballad “Comfort Me“ (à la Shakira)!

1 Point of view | 2 Hey Boy | 3 It's just the rain | 4 Awful Love | 5 Love Shock | 6 I Go Wherever You Go | BONUS TRACKS: 7 Awfull Love (Latin Pop Version)  | 8 Comfort Me

Recorded live at Porgy & Bess, Vienna, Austria, Jan. 2023,.
As one of the pioneers in the European Jazz Rock/Fusion Jazz movement in the 70s, of course OSTINATO was also inspired by Miles Davis. Each of the individual band members in their own way: Tommy Böröcz was clearly impressed by Billy Cobham's rock drumming style, Andi Steirer was enthused by the role percussion started to play in groove music, Rens Newland really loved the approach of John McLaughlin. The musicians who joined later, such as Robert Riegler and Robert Schönherr, certainly included Miles in their playing, directly or indirectly through Joe Zawinul. Likewise, the ostinato horn section uses the same insights that Miles gained for the start of a more global, cosmopolitan style of playing. At this concert the group presented a selection of their own inspirational works from their albums, as well as some adaptions of Miles Davis tunes.

Slowwalker Musical Prostitution

On a Cold Summerday Straight On Chili Con Carne

This is the second album of the Funk/Fusion/Latin Jazz band. At this time the status of the group was quite settled, after the time of big festivals like Velden and Wiesen in Austria. The band is touring at least two times a year, mostly in the german speaking part of Europe: Austria, Switserland, Germany. The main actors are still Tommy Böröcz and Rens Newland as the composers and arrangers, the rest of the band is chancing, especially  because of the overlap situation with the Vienna Art Orchestra, which is very succesful at that time and doing big long tours. But Vienna is a good source for Jazz musicians. so new talents get their chance here, like the genious trumpet player Andy Haderer, who is later changing to the famous WDR Big Band on lead trumpet!  The musical ideas and interpretations are fresh, partly a little more rocky or heavy grooving. CD Line-up: TOMMY BÖRÖCZ drums, congas, timbales, claves, maracas, cowbells, guiro, tambourin, keyboards on „Slowwalker“, grand piano on „Que Vida Me Querida“ RENS NEWLAND all guitars, guitar synthesizer, agogobells, Chinese bells, tambourine, Linn programming HARRY GANSBERGER keyboards, synthesizer programming ALBERT KREUZER bass ANDREAS HADERER trumpet, flugelhorn KLAUS DICKBAUER alto saxophone MARTIN FUSS soprano & tenor saxophone

One Man Show (radio edit) Jazz-Zenész
Love Won´t Wait (feat. Susan Blake on Trombone)
Minden Jó Shut Up! I´m Not In Love With You
Have You Seen Mr Green? I Say Thank You

All the songs on this album are written by Susan Blake (words & music)! She did lots of touring with Dixieland bands - especially some from Hungary - ever since she left schools. One of these bands is the MISKOLC DIXIELAND BAND, which is the fine backing group on this record. As a composer Susan Blake is quite succesful: in the last years, while doing some more country stuff as a singer, in two following years she won prizes for the best song - composer and lyricist - at the Austrian Country Awards! Here on these recordings she came back to her Dixie roots, but in a delicate mix with Mainstream Jazz, Pop and Country influences. The songs sound positve and light, as if you already know them, the lyrics are with a lot of humour, about love and life. There is also a lot of room for the bands soloists and on the title track Miss Blake takes a solo on the trombone, one of her additionnal instruments.

This was the first album of the austrian Funk/Fusion/Latin Jazz band Ostinato. At that time the band already existed for some years, winning talent competitions and already playing lots of concerts. A big milestone for the group was the tour to South-America. Tommy Böröcz came back with a head full of musical ideas and he made a bunch of great compositions, integrating three horns now to get a bigger sound! Rens Newland just came into the band before and started helping to organize the vehicle and composing for the project. Also several other prominent new personalities of the Vienna scene joined the band and the touring life started.

My Instrument is the Orchestra Crazy Concepts from Vienna I remember Hans and Marcus Homecoming Brainwash Airport St. Petersburg The Spirit of Don Ellis Just a Short Idea Think about it!

„My Instrument is the Orchestra“ is the result of the work over the previous 10 to 15 years. Bandleader, arranger and composer Markus Geiselhart has tried to go new ways with this production – based on tradition in music. So he experimented in the matters of line up, composition and arrangement, but also with the way the production was mixed. It's a great Big Band, featuring soloists like THOMAS KUGI (tenor saxophone), HERWIG GRADISCHNIG (baritone saxophone), MARTIN KOLLER (guitar), HERBERT JOOS (flugelhorn), ROMED HOPFGARTNER (alto saxophone), CLEMENS SALESNY (alto saxophone), MARIO ROM (trumpet), MARIO LACKNER (drums), STEFAN THALER (bass), ALOIS EBERL (trombone), GERMAN MARSTATT (flugelhorn), finding new ways and new combinations using interesting sounds like rock guitars and electronics!
