This is the second album of the Funk/Fusion/Latin Jazz band. At this time the status of the group was quite settled, after the time of big festivals like Velden and Wiesen in Austria. The band is touring at least two times a year, mostly in the german speaking part of Europe: Austria, Switserland, Germany.

Christian Havel and Erwin Schmidt are a sworn harmonic team since some decades already:
they understand and feel each other perfectly and are reaching an extremly high level in playing and phrasing together as well as complementing each other in sounds.
They choosed to dedicate these recordings to their wifes, and in general to the WOMEN of the world.
For this purpose each of them made some special compositions and they added some fitting originals plus two standards to complete this fine album.
Erwin Schmidt plays the grand piano as well as the Hammond Organ. Christian Havel plays his great Jazz guitar and does some lead singing, too.
Both did also some backvocals.

This was the first album of the austrian Funk/Fusion/Latin Jazz band Ostinato. At that time the band already existed for some years, winning talent competitions and already playing lots of concerts. A big milestone for the group was the tour to South-America. Tommy Böröcz came back with a head full of musical ideas and he made a bunch of great compositions, integrating three horns now to get a bigger sound! Rens Newland just came into the band before and started helping to organize the vehicle and composing for the project. Also several other prominent new personalities of the Vienna scene joined the band and the touring life started.

Since decades the highly gifted and successful Austrian percussionist Andi Steirer is on tour and playing in the studio with numerous projects: Ostinato, Karl Ratzer, Falco, Fritz Pauer, Ludwig Hirsch (steady band member since 1986), Rainhard Fendrich, Austria 3, Alegre Correa, Dorretta Carter, Harri Stojka, Stella Jones, Heinz von Hermann, Cesár Sampson a.m.m.! On this album he 'eventually' presents his own personal vision in music: A “meditation about the city” with lots of percussion, deep emotions and reaching up to ecstasy! You could experience the city as one big trance sequence, with its repeating processes, work rhythms and rituals! The participating musicians are: Hannes Oberwalder on keyboards, Jojo Lackner on electric bass and Berni Schedelberger on congas. To do completely without drums is kind of novel. The soloist Andi Steirer (on bongos) builds his statements over keyboard layers, without having melody or harmony at his disposal!

2017: An important jubilee year for Ostinato: celebrating 40 years on stage with a big Gala concert in their hometown Vienna and a jubilee tour as well! The band was founded in the middle of the seventies. From the start Tommy Böröcz was the driving power (as drummer & writer) of the project. In the eighties Rens Newland (a Dutchman in Vienna) joined the band as guitarist and writer and in the following decades these two artists shared the musical directing and the band organizing. Ostinato has gained an established name in European Funk, Fusion and Latin Jazz, the influence of which they took home from a tour in South America. The jubilee album contents exclusively original compositions and all the aspects of the typical Ostinato Sound are represented. From straight Funk through more complicated Fusion Jazz to Latin Jazz, plus three special dedications to Jimi Hendrix, Joe Zawinul and Miles Davis. Christian Havel is without doubt one of the leading Jazz guitarists of Europe. On this album he gathered four very strong collegues for his international quintet. The recording session also features the great voice and musical skills of Lori Williams. Once again drummer Joris Dudli and alto saxophonist Vincent Herring have paired to co-lead a passionate album, backed by Jeremy Pelt on trumpet, Freddie Bryant on guitar, Jared Gold on organ and presenting vocals as a new colour for the group with the tastful voice of Sachal Vasandani.
The Soul Jazz Alliance revisits the tradition with elegance and play with heart on Dudli’s eight original compositions and Bryant’s “Lovers Line.” Norah Jones’ “Don’t Know Why” is the beautiful final.

Christian Havel, one of the leading Jazz guitarists of Europe, started “just for fun” jamsessions in the oriental club/restaurant „Aux Gazelles”, somewhere in Vienna. Out of this Session grew a really tight band, this studio recording is a document and a prove for that! The lovely combination of a warm sounding Jazzguitar, a smokey Hammond organ, a light and swingy drums and a snake charming saxophone bring us in the feeling to be right between New York and the Orient.
