Clemens Hofer - Trioboot

Clemens Hofer - Trioboot

Clemens Hofer is very creative trombone player. He actually first started playing the trumpet in the marching band of his homevillage at the age of ten. At the age of fifthteen he took the trombone and the euphonium as his main instruments. Eight years later he decided to study jazz and classical music at the Conservatory of Vienna. Between 2002 and 2005 he studied jazztrombone in Graz at the University of Arts. Since 2005 Clemens Hofer is living in Vienna as a freelance composer and musician, working in different orchestras, chambermusic ensembles and jazzbands, as well as a teacher. Trioboot is his project with Michiru Ripplinger, guitar and Wolfgang Kendl, drums, oscillating between modern and classic jazz functions, but with none of the clichés of the past. The themes glide unnoticed with easy improvisations and the band has an unique sound. The trio is steadily building itself a niche in the increasingly diverse arena of contemporary jazz.
