Hans Salomon

Hans Salomon (1933-2020) was a legendary musician of Austria’s Jazz-scene. He was Joe Zawinul’s “Austrian All Stars” co-founder and an active member of the “Johannes Fehring Big Band” for many years. Among his many engagements in the Jazz-scene he played with Friedrich Gulda, Fatty George, Erich Kleinschuster Sextett, the ORF Big Band, Louis Armstrong, Gerry Mulligan, Jones-Mobile, Ella Fitzgerald, Marlena Shaw, Lionel Hampton, Lou Rawls, Mel Lewis, Ron Carter, Cannonball Aderley, J.J. Johnson, Ray Charles, Barry Manilow, Johnny Griffin, Hans Koller, Slide Hampton, Art Farmer (Hans Salomon being responsible for the arrangements of the complete album “Gentle Eyes”) to name a few. He also did arrangements for Stan Getz, Toots Thielemans and all arrangements for Toni Stricker’s album “As Time Goes By”. Since 1965 Hans Salomon was an active member of the “Orchester der Vereinigten Bühnen Wien” as well as the leader of the “Vienna Big Band Machine” and the “Blue Note Big Band” together with Frank Main.
