Rens Newland was born in Holland, where he arranged for smaller groups. Since 1977 he lives and works in Vienna, Austria, where he starts writing Big Band arrangements in the late 70s. Especially for the ORF Big Band (which he was the guitarist of). In the 80s he also started to write string arrangements and orchester scores for Musicals, TV shows or Concerts. A very lot he wrote for small groups with horns. Some more artists he wrote for: Scope, , Ostinato, Gloria Gaynor, Vienna Big Band Machine, Johnny Cash, Maya Hakvoort, 4Voices, etc.
